San Martino in Rio (Reggio Emilia), 10 July 2020 – It is Mario Zanni is dead, better known as the manager of the Mario Bar, the place told in one of Luciano’s first big hits Ligabue. Mario had long run the bar in San Martino in Rio. It has been overcome by some complications related to different physical ailments. He was 80 years old.
In the years of the great success of Ligabue’s song Zanni’s bar was a destination for many fan of the rocker. And even today, despite the change of management, there are numerous admirers of the Liga who stop in the restaurant in via Forche. Luciano knew that bar because it was a fixed stop of his band, the Orazero, after the tests in a nearby former stable, in Lemizzone. It was late between fried dumplings and drinks. And the stories of passing by that bar had become the theme of the song “Bar Mario”.
The funeral home was set up at the Rossi Funeral Home, in via don Borghi in San Martino in Rio, from where on Saturday 11 July at 3 pm the obsequies for the parish church of the town. After the religious ceremony, the coffin will be transferred for cremation. Zanni leaves his wife Cordiana, their children Valeria, Elisa and Nazareno, his daughter-in-law Elena, his nephews Leonardo, Eleonora and Leonardo, brothers, sisters and other relatives. No flowers: any offers in his memory they can be used for good works.
